چکیده

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODSdA total of 1,123 T2DM participants, ages 34– 86 years, in the Diabetes Heart Study followed up for an average of 7.4 years were separated using baseline computed tomography scans of CAC (0–9, 10–99, 100–299, 300–999, and $1,000). Logistic regression was performed to examine the association between CAC and CVD mortality adjusting for FRS. Areas under the curve (AUC) with and without CAC were compared. Net reclassification improvement (NRI) compared FRS (model 1) versus FRS+CAC (model 2) using 7.4-year CVD mortality risk categories 0% to ,7%, 7% to ,20%, and $20%.

Aortic andMitral Annular Calcification Are Predictive of All-Cause and CardiovascularMortality in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

RESEARCHDESIGNANDMETHODSdWe retrospectively analyzed the data from 902 type 2 diabetic outpatients, who had undergone a transthoracic echocardiography for clinical reasons during the years 1992–2007. AVS andMACwere diagnosed by echocardiography, and a heart valve calcium (HVC) score was calculated by summing up the AVS andMAC variables. The study outcomes were all-cause and cardiovascular morta...

Value of coronary artery calcium scanning by computed tomography for predicting coronary heart disease in diabetic subjects.

OBJECTIVE The South Bay Heart Watch is a cohort study designed to determine the significance of coronary calcium in high-risk asymptomatic patients. This is a report of the relative risk (RR) for outcomes of coronary artery calcium in diabetic and nondiabetic subjects. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS A total of 1312 diabetic and nondiabetic subjects underwent risk factor screening and computed to...

Background: The aim of this study was to assess the association of serum adiponectin and a set of traditional cardiovascular risk factors with carotid artery intimal-medial thickness (CIMT) and coronary artery calcium score (CACS), as markers of subclinical atherosclerosis in subjects with early type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: Carotid artery intima- media thickness (measured by B-mode ultrso...

Volumetric analysis of central body fat accurately predicts incidence of diabetes and hypertension in adults

BACKGROUND Central adipose tissue is appreciated as a risk factor for cardiometabolic disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of a volumetric 3D analysis of central adipose tissue in predicting disease. Full body computerized tomography (CT) scans were obtained from 1225 female (518) and male (707) subjects, aged 18-88. Percent central body fat (%cBF) was determined b...
